Grace & Mark's Mappa Burl Dining Table
it all started when...
Mark & Grace had wild dreams of seating 20 people in their new Gastown condo. We always ask customers to outline their table on the floor with painters tape and live with it for a few days, before making a final decision on size. However this isn’t always possible. When you want a table delivered close to your possession date you need to trust your instincts. After throwing around designs of convertible tables and tables with extensions Grace just couldn’t get the Italian Mappa Burl out of her mind. It’s a good thing she followed her heart because a bigger table would have not fit. As it was this massive slab had to be walked up a stairs.
Grace envisioned a flawless mirror gloss finish and since Mappa is soft wood it required some extra TLC. This stunning slab received six coats of epoxy over the entire surface, then ten coats of varnish. Regular steel legs would not suffice this golden wonder, instead it was paired with red hot powder coated U-legs to match Grace and Mark’s dining room chairs.
